摘　　要：五四运动不仅是现代文学的开端,也同时为当代文学的研究提供了资源。五四运动从一开始就蕴含着“个性解放”和“大众”运动这两重含义,“个人”这一话语在五四初期得到彰显,到二十世纪二三十年代民族救亡思潮出现,其蕴含的大众化、人民性的这一面被揭示出来,而人民性也恰好是开启当代文学的标识之一。从这个意义上来说,五四不仅是现代意义上的个人启蒙,也兼具当代文学意义的人民性,在当代的意义并未失落。The May 4th Movement not only initiated modern literature,but also provides resources for us to study contemporary literature.From the very beginning,the Movement had two significances,namely,“individual liberation”and“mass movement”.The former was highlighted in its early stage,and the latter was revealed during the 1920s and 30s when the national salvation ideology emerged with its orientation toward people,which was later seen as one of the symbols of contemporary literature.Therefore the May 4th Movement has not only its modern sense of individual enlightenment,but also the contemporary literature’s emphasis on people,that is to say,the May 4th Movement has some contemporary significance.
