方言声韵与城市商品贸易:两期城市截面数据下的经验证据

摘　　要：借鉴应用语言学关于汉语声韵系统相关特征的分析,对比1992—1993年城市截面数据与2016—2018年城市截面数据,从语言文化属性视角检视方言声韵影响城市商品贸易的理论机理。研究发现,较为丰富的方言声韵系统能够显著促进城市商品贸易规模的扩大,且随着普通话普及水平的提高,方言声韵特征的商品贸易效应逐渐增强;从影响机制来看,相对丰富的方言声韵系统有利于增强交易双方语义信息表达的准确性,能够通过提高信息传递效率促进城市商品贸易,补充了汉语方言同样适用齐普夫定律的现实依据。因此,各地政府应当有针对性地引导语言及方言声韵系统的演化发展,充分发挥声韵系统的贸易效应,设计促进城市商品贸易发展的新路径。Summary It has become an academic consensus that dialects can affect trade,but the mechanism about their economic effects remains to be explored.In the pursuit of economic development,researchers often provide conflicting answers to whether to preserve and use dialects or promote common languages.This creates a dilemma for local governments on whether to maintain linguistic diversity or strengthen linguistic unity.In order to solve the dilemma between local dialects and economic development,the key factor is the recognition of language attributes.The existing literature is mainly inclined to use the instrumental attributes of dialects to identify Chinese and dialects’influence on regional economic development,but it seldom discusses the mechanism how dialects’cultural attributes affect economic development.Drawing on the definition of phonology system in applied linguistics,we set the syllables and tones of Chinese dialect in urban as measures of dialect phonology features,and examine the theoretical mechanism how the characteristics of dialect phonology system effect urban commodity trade from the perspective of linguistic and cultural attributes.Comparing the estimated results of urban cross-sectional data from 1992-1993 with those from 2016-2018,the study shows that,first,a richer dialect phonology system can significantly contribute to the expansion of urban merchandise trade.It is found that the trade effect of dialect phonology features gradually increases as the popularity level of Mandarin increases.Second,the IV-2SLS estimations not only prove the significant effect of topographic slope on the evolution of dialect phonology system,but also verify the robustness of our findings.Third,regarding the influence mechanism,the relatively rich dialect phonology system is conducive to enhancing the accuracy of semantic information expression among trading parties,and can promote the expansion of urban commodity trade scale by improving the information transmission efficiency.So we argue that Zipf’s law also
