摘　　要：宋丹发现日本所藏林语堂《红楼梦》英译原稿,其专著《日藏林语堂<红楼梦>英译稿整理与研究》基于一手材料的发掘与实事求是的考证,精准解决了林语堂的翻译时间、翻译底本、为何在日本转译出版三个难题;通过材料与方法的有机融合、精细入微的分析有效回答了林语堂的翻译策略、特征、意义等基本问题;且在多语种、跨文化翻译研究的方法与路径上做了有益探索;分门别类的整理亦有助直观形象地了解林稿。该著为《红楼梦》翻译研究、林语堂研究提供了新的一手文献资料;是翻译家手稿研究之范例;亦可唤起红学界重新思考《红楼梦》续书说与林语堂的红学研究。作者锲而不舍、孜孜以求的治学精神难能可贵,材料与方法相得益彰的创新性研究亦是当下翻译学界行稳致远之道。Song Dan is the first scholar to discover Lin Yutang' s unpublished English translation of The Red Chamber Dream stored in Japan.Based on the discovery and research of Lin's translation,Song Dan authors the book Collation and Research of Lin Yutang's Unpublished English Translation of THE RED CHAMBER DREAM Stored in Japan,which accurately solves the three problems of Lin's choice of source text,translation time,and why it was translated and published in Japan.Through the integration of materials and methods,the book,with its detailed analysis,addresses well the basic questions of Lin's translation strategies,characteristics,and significance.It also makes a useful exploration on the methodologies of multilingual or cross-cultural translation research.Moreover,the meticulous collation is helpful to understand Lin's translation more directly and vividly.This book provides new literature for both the translation study of The Red Chamber Dream and the study of Lin Yutang.It not only presents a new paradigm for the study of translators' manuscripts,but also can arouse the circle of Redology to rethink the sequel problem and Lin's study of The Red Chamber Dream.The author's perseverance and diligence in research are commendable,and her innovative way to integrate materials and methods is also enlightening for the current translation studies.
