摘　　要：在非裔美国文学中,莫里森的小说《恩惠》已被视为关于种族主义与女性主义的典范之作。本文聚焦于主人公弗洛伦斯的成长历程,借助认知科学中对背景认知的探讨,打破对弗洛伦斯成长研究的“社会”与“个人”两个分立维度的讨论格局,以背景的社会性、身体性与隐蔽性来展现弗洛伦斯从迷失到成长的认知机制与去前景化历程。以背景认知的目光重新审视弗洛伦斯,我们不仅能挖掘出幽微的认知机制对于个体生存反思的影响,还可以看到社会语境与种族主义对个体思维与选择的形塑。Toni Morrison’s A Mercy has been seen as a canonical text concerning racism and feminism among African American literature. This article,using the lens of background cognition,reassesses the process of the protagonist Florence’s growth that breaks the divisive dimensions of the research,the social one and the personal one. Background entails the social and embodied dimensions of one’s cognition that must be withdrawn to exert its effect,through which Florence’s self-realization can be readily revealed. From the perspective of background cognition,we can not only explore the subtle influence of cognitive mechanism on the trajectory of one ’s existential reflection,but know the effect of social context and racism on one’s thinking pattern and decision-making.
