摘　　要：《新石头记》是吴趼人理想小说的代表性篇什,文本之中的“文明境界”是当时并不多见的以儒家文化为核心元素的中国叙事。吴趼人有意识地以儒家大同思想为榜样,将“文明境界”设想成一个“为公”的社会,这里处处以德为先,既强调社会道德完善的重要性,也追求社会秩序文明的有效性。吴趼人之所以采用中国叙事,主要基于以下考量:其一,西方文明观不能在将来中国社会的构成中居于主体位置;其二,先秦儒家文化才是构建“文明境界”适合的思想资源。吴趼人通过对文化主体建构机制的展示,不仅表达了理想社会可以有效达致的文化自信力,而且通过这种清晰、确然的路径和方法,激发和点燃了人们改造社会的希望精神。New Story of the Stone is a representative work of Wu Jianren’s ideal fiction.The“realm of civilization”in this text can be regarded as a rare Chinese narration centered on Confucian culture.Wu purposefully followed the example of Confucian thought of Datong(great harmony)and envisaged the“realm of civilization”as a morality-oriented society for the public,which emphasized the importance of social moral perfection and pursued the effectiveness of social order and civilization.Wu employed Chinese narration for two reasons.Firstly,Western civilization cannot play a dominant role in Chinese society;secondly,Pre-Qin Confucian culture was the most suitable ideological aid to construct the realm of civilization.Wu,through exhibiting the mechanism of cultural subject con⁃struction,not only expressed cultural confidence that can be effectively achieved based on an ideal society,but also inspired people’s spirit of hope for social reform through the clear and accurate methods.
