摘  要:清末的白话报人在五四文学革命中扮演的角色,可分为“推动者”“游离者”“反对者”三类。“推动者”之于文学革命的意义显而易见,但那些游离于文学革命之外的白话报人,他们在各自的专业领域,以其精神或行动,间接地支持了文学革命。文学革命中“推动者”与“反对者”之间的“文白之争”,表面上是语言形式与文学观念之争,其实质是文学的“权位”(“正宗”)之争。由于清末白话报人的代际差异和籍贯、文学趣味的不同,他们在文学革命中发生了分化。The role played by the vernacular newspapermen in the May 4th Literary Revolution can be divided into three categories: “promoters”,“drifters”and“opponents”.The significance of“promoters”to Literary Revolution is obvious.However, the vernacular newspapermen, who were drifting away from the Literary Revolution, indirectly supported the Literary Revolution in their own professional fields with their spirit or actions.In the Literary Revolution, the argument between the“promoters”and the“opponents”is ostensibly about the form of language and the concept of literature.In essence, it is about the position of power(the“orthodox”position)of literature.The vernacular newspapermen diverged in the Literary Revolution because of the difference of generation, native place and literary interest.
