How Should the Study of the History of Science Proceed?——Retouching on the Independence and Autonomy of the History of Science

摘  要:科学史学科因学科内外各种不同的学术思想的碰撞而趋于撕裂,“万花筒之喻”不足以告慰职业科学史家。文章致力于反思科学史与科学哲学、科学(知识)社会学、科学以及历史学之间的学术互动进程,以揭示科学史学科从一开始就存在的、位于学科深层理论层面上的危机,指出欲维护学科完整性和学科自主性,科学史家须重返萨顿理想,发展长时段全球科学史。The integrity of the history of science as an independent discipline is being torn apart by transdisciplinary collisions between ideas indigenous to the discipline with ideas external to it.The kaleidoscope metaphor,which implies that the discipline seems to be well-integrated despite its various tensions,provides no comfort to professional historians of science.This paper is devoted to scrutinizing the process of academic interaction between the history of science,philosophy of science,sociology of science(knowledge),and science and history;it reveals crises originally existent within deep theoretical levels of the history of science from the very beginning,and points out that in order to maintain the integrity and autonomy of the discipline,historians of science should return to Sarton's ideal and develop the long-term global history of science.
