摘　　要：In 1271,Marco Polo(1254-1324),a 17-year-old Italian explorer,Lcame to China following in the steps of his father.It took him four years to reach Dadu,the then Great Capital of the Yuan Dynasty(1271-1368),where he made friends with Kublai Khan,also known as Emperor Shizu(reign:1260-1294).Over the next decade,he travelled to many ancient cities in China.After returning to Italy,he gave an oral account of what he saw and heard while in China,and his account was later published into The Travels of Marco Polo.In this travelogue,Marco Polo depicted a city where"the rarest and the most precious things in the world can be found'The city he was talking about was Dadu,the present-day city of Bejing.
