摘　　要：On the banks of the Tormes River inthe AutonomousCommunity of Castile and Leon in western Spain,there is an ancient city called"Salamanca"According to legend,the stone used to build this ancient city is very special.t is yellow sandstone,a local specialty that shines like gold at night,leading to Salamanca's other name-"the Golden City"There has been a city on the site of Salamanca as far back as prehistoric times,during the time of the Iberians,and indeed it was the Iberians who built a settlement there.By the 16th century,Salamanca had become the cultural centre of Spain,and even the Iberian Peninsula.Poets and writers used gorgeous rhetoric to capture Salamanca's dazzling and star-like image,and communicate it to all of Europe.
