摘　　要：During the Spring and Autumn Period(770-476 BC),the sage Confucius wrote in the Book of Rites,"The desire for food and the company of the other gender is the biggest desire in life."Historian Ban Gu of the Eastern Han Dynasty(202 BC-AD 25)claimed in History ofthe Han Dynasty,"Food is the paramount necessity of the people"The importance offood was further elevated in later dynasties.The great writer Su Dongpo of the Northern Song Dynasty(AD 960-1127)savoured many delicacies,and he is fondly remembered for the multiple meat dishes named after him.
