摘　　要：Under the reign of Tanqi(1621-1627) in the late Ming Dynasty(1368-1644),eunuch Wei Zhongxian(1568-1627)exercised power that seemed to rival that of Emperor Xizong.Wei had henchmen allover the country,with whom he cruelly suppressed any force opposing him,including the Donglin Faction.In 1626,Wei had Zhou Shunchang(1584-1626),an assistant secretary of the Board of Civil Service,arrested in Suzhou,which provoked indignation of the local people.
