摘　　要：During the Warring States Period(475-221 BC),Lin Xiangru,a politician and general of the State of Zhao,went to the State of Qin to exchange its 15 towns with a piece of priceless jade known as Clan He's jade-disk.However,seeing that the king of Qin had no intention of trading cities for jade,Lin Xiangru managed to take back the jade and return it intact to the State of Zhao.Since then,Lin Xiangru has been praised for his courage and sagacity.However,Wang Shizhen(1526-1590)from the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644),looked at this event in a different way,and wrote an essay arguing against the prevailing view.The article is entitled"On Lin Xiangru Returning the Jade Intact to the State of Zhao".
