摘  要:钱锺书何以能在1942年沦陷于日寇铁蹄下的上海辣斐德路亭子间里坚持完成其学术里程碑《谈艺录》,原因有三:一是早年受柏格森《时间与自由意志》启发,他认定古典诗歌研究是值得托付并必须坚守的人生志趣(即“基本自我”之“自由诗心”);二是因开朗性情,他热衷于表演、表现其才华与研究成果(即“基本自我”之“讲台情结”);三是如柏格森所言,任何基本自我总会受到外界困境挑战,而获得幸福与自由的唯一方式是在困境下坚守自我,钱锺书接连在蓝田国师与辣斐德路亭子间遭遇困境,但在个人坚强与友人建议的双重作用下,他转而将研究与表演欲专注到笔砚间,完成了“角色蜕变”,终达成个人学术的首个巅峰。The persistence of Qian Zhongshu in completing his academic milestone,On the Art of Poetry,in the garret on Route Lafayette in Shanghai,which was occupied by the Japanese invaders in 1942,can be attributed to three reasons.Firstly,he was inspired by Bergson's Time and Free Will in his early years,which led him to recognize classical poetry studies as a worthwhile and essential pursuit in his life(referred to as the“freedom of poetic spirit”within his“fundamental self”).Secondly,due to his outgoing personality,he was passionate about performing and showcasing his talents and research achievements(referred to as the“lectern sentiment”within his“fundamental self”).Lastly,as Bergson suggested,any fundamental self will invariably face challenges from external difficulties.The only way to attain happiness and freedom is by holding onto one's true self amid adversity.Qian Zhongshu encountered successive challenges during his time with Master Lantian and in the garret on Route Lafayette.However,with his personal strength and the guidance of friends,he redirected his focus on research and performance to the realm of writing,completing a“transformation of roles”and ultimately reaching the pinnacle of his academic achievements.
