摘　　要：Early Influences Two academic influences on language teaching from the end of the nineteenth century onwards,were philology and phonetics(Howatt,1984:16981).In philology,the discovery of the common ancestry and relationship of many European and Asian languages raised doubts about the supposed superiority of Latin and Ancient Greek(Sampson,1980:1333).
