摘 要:文化与语言两者之间的关系历来是外语教学研究中的重要话题,语言教学和文化互为依存,文化是语言的基础,语言是文化的载体。在“中华文化走出去”战略背景下,如何传播中国文化、讲好中国故事成为一个重要议题。本研究将基于跨文化交际视角,采用文本分析法,对美国2011年出版的国际中文教材Integrated Chinese中的文化表征进行质性分析。研究发现,教材中不同文化地域呈现比例由高到低依次是目标语文化、源文化、国际文化以及其他国家文化;文化类型以文化产品和文化实践为主;呈现方式上,注重文化知识模块和活动/练习。该研究证明教材应当体现多元文化,且文化内容需要与时俱进,注重跨文化交际能力的培养。Culture and language are two inseparable factors in language teaching.Culture serves as the foundation of language,while language acts as the carrier of culture.Nowadays,with the implementation of the“Chinese Culture Going Globally”strategy,it has become crucial to effectively present captivating narratives about China and transmit Chinese culture.Based on Intercultural Communication theory,the study adopts content analysis to explore cultural representations in Integrated Chinese,an US-produced Chinese as a foreign language textbook.The study found that as for category of countries,this textbook attaches the greatest importance to target culture,followed by source culture,international culture and culture of other countries.Additionally,the textbook covers a wide range of cultural categories,with cultural products and cultural practices outnumbering cultural communities and perspectives.Regarding the mode of cultural representation,the textbook predominantly presents more cultural knowledge through dedicated sections and incorporates cultural activities and exercises.This study indicates that textbooks should reflect multiculturalism,and cultural content should keep pace with times.Finally,it is important to cultivate intercultural communication through learning cultures and languages.
