Intestinal microorganisms are important participants in host physiological activities and are closely related to host health and diseases.Studies have shown that intestinal microbial metabolites are the key mediators of diet-induced host-microbe interactions, and these metabolites are produced directly by microorganisms or from the metabolic transformation of related molecules in the environment and host. The chemical dialogue between host and intestinal microorganisms is an important link in host physiology. The study on these metabolic pathways and signaling pathways can further reveal the mechanisms of interactions between microbial metabolism and host.Aromatic amino acids, including phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan, are important signaling molecules in host-microbial interaction and play important regulatory roles in gastrointestinal tract and distant organs. In this paper,we reviewed the latest progress in research on phenylalanine and intestinal microorganisms, focusing on the metabolism of phenylalanine in host and intestinal microorganisms.
