“悲悯”抑或“虚妄”?——评罗斯金“情感误置”之现代性张力

摘　　要：约翰·罗斯金的散文书写颇具早期启蒙现代性。他将具有“公共纽带”精神的中世纪绘画、建筑、雕刻与诗歌视为同质的事物,通过“线条”“色彩”“纹饰”等视觉形式将前者描绘成中性物体,旨在传达有机生命的“自然”之道。通过反思罗斯金在《现代画家》中对“情感谬误”概念的阐述,挖掘其中蕴含的“悲悯”与“虚妄”之双重现代性张力,即前者以“敏锐的感受力”为主导的重建诉求,以及后者围绕“自我中心性”所展开的批判。基于此,他尝试唤起世人对“真实”与“诚实”的生命精神实质的思考,重塑共同体中个体真诚的“悲悯”之力,因此对罗斯金思想的再审视不失具有持久的现代性启蒙思想价值。John Ruskin's prose writing exhibits a strong early enlightenment modernity.He regards medieval painting,Architectonice,sculpture,and poetry,which embody the spirit of“communal bonds”,as homogeneous entities.Through visual forms such as“lines”,“colors”,and“ornamentation”,he depicts them as neutral objects in order to convey the natural way of organic life.By reflecting on Ruskin's concept of“pathetic fallacy”in Modern Painters,this paper explores the dual modern strain of“pathetic”and“fallacious”inherent in it.The former is driven by a desire for reconstruction dominated by“acuteness of feeling”,while the latter criticizes selfishness.Based on this,Ruskin attempts to awaken people's reflection on the essence of“truth”and“honesty”in the spiritual life,and to reshape individuals'genuine power of“pathetic”in the community.Therefore,reevaluating Ruskin's ideas bears enduring value for modern enlightenment thinking.
