摘　　要：阿特伍德的科幻小说《使女的故事》描绘了因盲目开发而导致环境严重恶化的基列国现状,表达了作者深切的生态忧思。透过女性性别视野,检视作品中的核心意象“花园”,以发掘其所蕴含的生态文化内涵。花园与女主人公奥芙雷德和乔伊紧密关联:于奥芙雷德而言,花园象征着女性与自然的紧密联系,她的生命季节与花园四季相互交融,通过她与自然的交往既反映了人对生态危机的反思,也揭示了人对精神生态重建的思考。而对于乔伊而言,花园则象征以男性为主的传统家庭,通过赋予女性在家庭事务中的权力,将女性束缚在家庭之中,从而让其丧失社会主体地位;同时,花园作为人造自然,更象征着统治者的欺骗策略与权力凝视。总之,借助花园书写,阿特伍德表达了她对性别与自然之间关系的深沉思考。The science fiction of Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale depicts the current situation of the Gilead,which is in seriously environmental situation due to blind development,and conveys the writer's deep concerns about the ecology.From feminist perspective,the paper will try to bring out the ecological consciousness in the work by analyzing the core image of the"Garden".The garden is related to Offred and Joey:for Offred,the garden symbolizes the close connection between women and the nature,the season of her life corresponds with the four seasons of the nature in garden.The relationship between Offred and the nature,which reflects the human's reflection on the ecological crisis and the reconstruction of spiritual ecology.For Joey,the"Garden"symbolizes a male-dominated traditional family,which gives women power in the family affairs to bind women to the family,so that man can exploit women's status in society.Meanwhile,as a man-made nature,the"Garden"symbolizes the ruler's deceptive strategy and power gaze.In a word,through the portrayal of the"Garden",Atwood expressed her deep thinking on the relationship between the gender and the nature.
