The effect of peroxide on the properties of polypropylene(PP)fiber material was investigated by chemical degradation method. Two different peroxides(peroxide A and peroxide B)were selected to compare their effects on melt flow rate(MFR),mechanical properties, melting, crystallization, relative molecular mass distribution, odor and other aspects of PP fiber material. The results show that MFR increases significantly with the increase of peroxide mass fraction, and the optimum amount of solid peroxide addition to improve the performance of PP fiber material is clarified. At the same effective concentration, the relative molecular mass distribution, odor, and thermal stability performance within 30 minutes of peroxide A and peroxide B are comparable. The mechanical properties of PP fiber material are better improved when the mass fraction of peroxide A is between 0.13%and 0.17%.
