Hyperthermia has a multifactorial effect on the immune system. It can regulate and enhance the immune response through heat shock protein production and release to achieve a cure for infectious skin diseases.Hyperthermia has already been widely applied in viral wart treatment because the efficacy is comparable to that of traditional medical treatments, such as laser or liquid nitrogen cryotherapy, with the advantages of less pain,a “remote” therapeutic effect, and a lower recurrence rate.Additionally,it is applied for skin fungal and bacterial infections, such as sporotrichosis and mycobacterium. The immunologic mechanism of hyperthermia and its application in the field of dermatology are reviewed, and the research trend in hyperthermia is also discussed in this article.
