Identifying urban wetland restoration priority sites based on potential synergistic ecological benefits is crucial for meeting various sustainability goals in cities.Using open-access databases of urban climate and urban land use,as well as the world's largest citizen-science biodiversity database eBird,we employed radiation equations and MaxEnt models to assess the urban heat island effect and potential urban hot-spots for wetland birds. Our findings revealed remarkable urban heat and cold island effects in Suzhou City.High-temperature areas were found in construction land in the downtown of the city.Potential waterbirds distribution hot spots are concentrated in the old town, which is characterized by its historical water canals. These hot spots are mainly influenced by environmental factors of NDVI,distance to water source, and regional precipitation.Interestingly, there is a notable spatial overlap between urban heat islands and potential waterbird distribution hot-spots.This suggests that ecological restoration in these areas could yield multiple synergistic ecosystem service benefits. In addition, when assigning different weights to various restoration objectives, the priority areas for restoration exhibit diverse spatial configurations. Our research demonstrated an innovative method of utilizing open-access environmental data to guide sustainable urban planning.
