Objective To summarize the clinical characteristics of ant stings in children in winter and spring in Guangzhou from 2021 to 2022 and explore factors affecting the disease course. Methods The clinical data of 85 cases of ant stings who visited the outpatient department of our hospital from December 2021 to March 2022 were collected and analyzed retrospectively. Results The clinical symptoms of 85 cases contained mainly local allergic reactions, including 11 cases with wound infections and 4 with systemic reactions such as urticaria. All 85 cases were cured by symptomatic treatment, and the disease duration was 5-17 days. The disease course was linearly correlated with the number of sting rashes and secondary infections, which was statistically significant(P<0.05).The disease duration was not significantly correlated with the use of oral corticosteroids, age, sex, air temperature, white blood cell count,etc(P>0.05).Conclusion Children may experience ant stings in subtropical regions in winter and spring.Systemic allergic reactions are rare, and secondary infections may occur.Timely and effective treatment yields a good prognosis.Oral corticosteroids have little effect on the course of the disease, and the prolongation of the disease is closely related to the number of sting rashes and secondary infections.
