“唐宋派”当称为“本色派”考辨

摘　　要：“唐宋派”是现行文学史标称的一个明代作家流派,以王慎中、唐顺之、茅坤、归有光为主要成员。此种观点自1947年被郭绍虞正式提出后,学界一直存在争议。对明清相关文献进行考证、辨析可以发现,明代文学史上确实存在一个以“王、唐、茅、归”为核心成员的文学流派,然以“唐宋派”名之欠妥。原因有三:一是推崇唐宋文是明前中期一种普遍现象,“王、唐、茅、归”仅是其中持论者;二是“王、唐、茅、归”不仅推崇唐宋文,同时也推崇其他时代符合他们审美标准的散文;三是“王、唐、茅、归”推崇散文的标准不是以时代论,而是以是否符合他们所倡导的“本色论”而定。深入辨析考察“王、唐、茅、归”的文学活动和文学思想,可知他们交往密切,同声应气反对“前七子”文学拟古主义,共倡“本色论”文艺观,故将他们称为“本色派”更符合文学史的事实。The“Tang-song school”was a famous school of writers in the Ming Dynasty,with Wang Shenzhong,Tang Shunzhi,Mao Kun and Gui Youguang as the main members.Since Guo Shaoyu put forward this view in 1947,there has been controversy in academic circles.Based on the textual research and analysis of the relevant literature of the Ming and Qing Dynasties,it is found that there really existed a literary school with Wang,Tang,Mao and Gui as its core members in the literary history of the Ming Dynasty.However,the name of“the Tang-song school”was not appropriate.There are three reasns.Firstly,it was a common phenomenon to praise tang-song prose in the early and middle periods of Ming Dynasty,and“Wang,Tang,Mao,Gui”were only among the many writers.Secondly,“Wang,Tang,Mao,Gui”not only worshiped the prose of Tang and Song Dynasties,but also praised the prose of other times that conformed to their aesthetic standards.Thirdly,“Wang,Tang,Mao,Gui”promoting the standard of prose wasn’t based on the theory of the times,but was determined in line with their advocacy of the“natural color”.Through an in-depth analysis of“Wang,Tang,Mao,Gui”literary activities and literary thoughts,it has been found that they had a close relationship,echoed each other against“Former seven”literary archaianism,and advocated the literary and artistic view of the theory of nature.Therefore,it is more in line with the fact of literary history to call them the“natural color school”.
