永嘉大师籍贯考  

A Study on the Native Place of Master Yongjia

摘　　要：关于永嘉大师玄觉的籍贯,历代有“永嘉(温州)人”“永嘉县人”和“瑞安人”三种记载。当代,随着戴氏宗谱温州世系宗支信息的披露,出现了玄觉可能出生于瓯海区下川村、鹿城区安仁坊或九曲巷等说法,前两者明显属于讹传,后者是基于零碎信息的推测,缺乏证据。但从永嘉地名历史沿革,明清的总志、方志、碑记和佛学著作等情况综合研判,玄觉祖上宗族世系从时间上看很可能属于鹿城九曲巷戴氏一支,玄觉本人籍贯应当为安固县(今瑞安市)帆游乡。Regarding the native place of Xuanjue,Master Yongjia,there were three records of“Yongjia(Wenzhou)”,“Yongjia County”and“Rui’an”throughout the ages.With the disclosure of contemporary information on Wenzhou lineage branch of Dai’s genealogy,there have been claims that Xuanjue might be born in Xiachuan Village,Ouhai District,Anrenfang or Jiuquxiang,Lucheng District.The former two are obviously false rumors,while the latter is speculation based on piecemeal information and lacks evidence support.However,based on the historical evolution of Yongjia place names,as well as the comprehensive research and judgment of the general records of the Ming and Qing Dynasties,local chronicles,inscriptions and Buddhist works,it is concluded that from the perspective of time,Xuanjue’s ancestral lineage is likely to belong to the Dai family in Jiuquxiang of Lucheng.And,Xuanjue’s native place should be the Fanyou village of Angu County(today’s Rui’an City).
