The soil layer in the Yangtze River Delta region is mainly composed of silt or muddy soil deposited by the interaction between sea and land, which belongs to weak soil layers and has poor engineering performance, and it is often prohibited to be used for structural backfilling in engineering construction. Therefore,in the Yangtze River Delta region where high-quality soil sources are scarce,it is often necessary to purchase high-quality soil for backfilling behind the walls of engineer-ing structures, resulting in high engineering costs and poor economic benefits.A systematic study was conducted on the bagged silt soil retaining wall in conjunction with the Yanglintang waterway regulation project,by optimizing the design of the retaining wall structure and improving the silt behind the wall with geotextile,a good and stable river protection structure has been constructed.Engineering practice has shown that the combination of cast-in-place buttress retaining walls and bagged silt soil walls for backfilling has good structural stability, pleasing appearance, low cost, and high economic benefits under similar engineering geological conditions, and has high reference for the protective construction of the Yangtze River Ba-sin and coastal areas with a wide distribution of muddy soil.
