Body narration is very prominent in Bulgakov's novels, which is mainly expressed in the writing of body organs, diseases and pains, and various accompanying desires.Among them, writer pays special attention to the"head",which represents human rationality and wisdom. In his works, the metamorphosis of the head becomes the narrative drive, promoting the development of the story;the pain of the head constitutes a narrative rhetoric, which has a metaphysical meaning. As a recurring motif,"the separation of the head and the body"has become one of the important symbols in Bulgakov's body narration, including his narrative ambition to show destruction and rebirth. It is in the description of the body represented by the head that Bulgakov demonstrates the importance of"repentance"and"faith"for the transformation of human souls.
