From the spontaneous care of the ecological environment by indigenous people to the conscious attention to nature by white upper middle class women and their active participation in natural resource conservation and urban community environment maintenance, and to the brave protection of living, working, and recreational spaces by people of color and low⁃income white communities, women have undergone role changes and perspective shifts in American environmental movement. This transformation is particularly evident in the diverse subjects and distinct environmental concerns they focus on.Whether its the“macro environment”or the“micro environment”,both constitute indispensable living spaces and meaningful worlds for women. Therefore, women have ample reasons to fight for them.Examining the roles, status, and contributions of women in the American environmental movement can help enhance environmental awareness among Chinese women and shape their environmental character.
