Toxins can be divided into exogenous toxins and endogenous toxins.Diabetes can be understood as metabolic disorders of physiological substances such as sugars in the body, accumulating endogenous toxins, blocking the movement of Qi,blood, body fluid, and causing damage to the human body. The collaterals connect Zang-fu,communicate with the outside, infuse Qi and blood, and nourize the whole body.Depending on unclogged eye collaterals, eye can be clear and bright.Based on the theory of toxin and collaterals, this paper expounds the etiology and pathogenesis of proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR)in perioperative period from the point of view of toxin impaired eye collaterals, and further discusses the application of detoxifying and collateralizing method in PDR after operation combined with clinical experience.Discussing the etiology and pathogenesis of PDR in the perioperative period from a new point of view and the postoperative treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine,it may provide a new theoretical idea for the understanding and treatment of the pathogenesis of PDR in the perioperative period.
