摘  要:通过炫耀性消费理论视角,将《温德米尔夫人的扇子》剧中炫耀性消费行为置于维多利亚社会文化语境当中,阐释炫耀性消费的内在心理机制,并将视角从炫耀性消费拓展到其与社会资本建构以及上流社会身份焦虑之间的关联。通过对戏剧进行炫耀性消费解读发现,人们通过炫耀性消费所追求的精神意义只不过是一场虚幻,效仿者当以此为鉴,以免误入迷途。In Veblen’s view,people of the leisure class satisfy their vanity by showing off their excess wealth to others,which is a conspicuous consumption behavior,hoping to bring happiness to themselves.Lady Windermere’s Fan is Wilde’s first successful social comedy.From the perspective of conspicuous consumption theory,this paper puts conspicuous consumption in the context of Victorian society and culture,explains the internal psychological mechanism of conspicuous consumption,and extends the perspective from conspicuous consumption to its relationship with the construction of social capital and the status anxiety of upper class society.Finally,through the interpretation of conspicuous consumption of drama,this paper finds that the spiritual meaning that people pursue through conspicuous consumption is just an illusion,and emulators should take it as a lesson to avoid going astray.
