处所意识视角下《还乡》中尤苔莎的悲剧解读

摘　　要：“处所意识”是美国学者罗伯特·塔利文学空间研究体系建构中的一部分,它指个人对所处地方(位置、方位、环境、空间关系等)的不安与焦虑。《还乡》中的主人公尤苔莎悲剧命运的产生与她所处的空间环境有着密切的关系,城市布达茅斯的光彩夺目与埃格敦荒原的庄严肃穆在尤苔莎的心里形成了巨大的反差,身处埃格敦的不满与不安导致了尤苔莎的处所焦虑,荒原居民对尤苔莎的不接纳,也加剧了尤苔莎内心要逃离荒原的想法,正是在逃离荒原的过程中,造成了尤苔莎的悲剧。Topophrenia is a term in the construction of literary space research system proposed by American scholar Robert Talley,and it refers to the individual’s anxiety about the place(location,position,environment,spatial relationship,etc.).The tragic fate of Eustacia,the protagonist in The Return of the Native,is closely related to the living spatial environment.The dazzling brilliance of the city Budmouth and the solemnity of the Egdon wasteland formed a huge contrast in Eustacia’s heart,and her topophrenia resulted from her dissatisfaction and uneasiness in Egdon.Meanwhile,the refusal of the wasteland residents to Eustacia also contributed to her inner desire to escape from the wasteland.This research finally concludes that it is the process of escaping from the wasteland that induced Eustacia’s tragedy.
