摘　　要：唐代军器监,九寺五监之一,为军械制造部门。史乘文献在追溯军器监源流时一般以北周建德四年(575)为始,但建德“军器监”与唐军器监并非一脉相承,两者在职能、建制和官阶上大相径庭。唐军器监正式建置于高祖武德初年(618),即脱胎于隋代少府监下辖之“铠甲、弓弩二署”,并统合并州的地方军器机构“武器监”和“百工监”而置。以中央“监”之职事、建制和品秩论,其被冠以“军器监”之名当肇始于唐初武德时期。此外,隋、唐之际是中国古代军器制造系统的一大转变期,隋前军器制造仅为“百工”之一,炀帝时始有独立建制,至唐初创设军器监,标志中古王朝军国体系逐渐趋于完善。Chan-chi Chien(军器监),one of the nine Ssus(寺) and five Chiens(监),was in charge of the manufacture of weapons in Tang Dynasty.The historical documents generally record that Chan-chi Chien was established in the fourth year of Jiande(建德四年)(575) in Northern Zhou Dynasty.But Jiande's Chan-chi Chien was very different from Tang Chan-chi Chien(唐军器监) in terms of function,organizational structure,and administrative hierachy.The Tang Chan-chi Chien was formally established in the early years of Wude(武德初年)(618) based on the Armor and Crossbow Administration(铠甲、弓弩署) under the administration of Shao-fu Chien(少府监) in Sui Dynasty with integration of the local institutions of Taiyuan—Wu-chi Chien(武器监) and Po-kung Chien(百工监).In addition,the Sui and Tang periods were a critical stage of transformation of China's ancient military weapons manufacturing system.Before the Sui Dynasty,the craft of manufacturing military weapons was just one of the numerous crafts.During the times of Sui Emperor,there was an independent agency responsible for the manufacture of military weapons.By the early years of the Tang Dynasty,the state officially established Chan-chi Chien,marking the gradual improvement of the military system of the Medieval dynasties.
