摘　　要：《玻璃动物园》是美国剧作家田纳西·威廉斯的成名作,被美国评论家誉为“开创了西方戏剧史上的新篇章”。在此戏剧中,作者运用大量象征主义与表现主义艺术手法,使剧中角色在现实与虚幻间的痛苦挣扎令人动容,赋予了这一现实主题悲剧无尽的诗意与张力。本文围绕剧中“玻璃动物”这一意象的多重象征意蕴展开分析,探究作者如何运用象征手法,书写这一大萧条背景下属于劳拉个人、温菲尔德一家、美国社会整体的荒凉悲剧。The Glass Menagerie is a famous play by American playwright Tennessee Williams,which was praised by American critics as“opening a new chapter in the history of western theater”.In this drama,the author uses a large number of artistic techniques of symbolism and expressionism to make the painful struggle between reality and fantasy of the characters affecting,giving this realistic theme tragedy endless poetry and tension.This paper analyzes the multiple symbolic meanings of the image of“glass animal”in the play,and explores how the author uses symbolism to write the bleak tragedy of Laura,the Winfield family and the whole American society under the background of the Great Depression.
