摘　　要：海明威的短篇小说《一天的等待》常常被误解、忽视、低估,游离于其代表作之外。实际上,这篇小说是作家根据个人生活经历的自我虚构,不过他把传记性内容隐藏得太深,以至于掩盖了小说的纪实性,造成了读者的误读,遮蔽了小说的深刻内涵与价值。现有的研究还忽略了与小说情节发展并行的“隐性进程”,忽视了异化的家庭关系、疾病与恐惧的记忆等潜文本。《一天的等待》虚实融合地记录了作家的生活片段,表征了一代人的集体记忆,也是对他自己的“冰山理论”的最好诠释,是海明威的经典短篇小说。Hemingway's short story"A Day's Wait",which has been misunderstood,neglected,and underestimated,is not on the list of his masterpieces.As an autofiction based on the writer's personal life experience,it too deeply hides its autobiographical elements,thus veiling the documentary nature of the story,causing readers'misreading,and obscuring the profound connotation and value of the story.Existing studies also ignore the covert procession"paralleling the overt plot of the story,and neglect the subtexts of alienated family relationships,memories of disease and fear.As a fusion of autobiography and fiction,"A Day's Wait"records the writer's life and the collective memory of a generation,and serves as a textbook example of the"Iceberg Theory".It should rank among the classics of Hemingway's oeuvre.
