Converted Othello is proud of being a Christian in words and deeds.By contrast, almost everyone in this drama still calls him“a moor”,while Shakespeare s attitude could be found in the subtitle of“the Moor of Venice”,which implies his failure as a convert. Moreover,Othello s experience reflects relationship transitions between Kingdom of England and Ottoman Empire(Anglo-Ottoman Relationship). For a time,Kingdom of England approaches Ottoman Empire.Otherwise,The more powerful the latter is,the more threatened Kingdom of England feels. At the beginning of 17th century, with fierce policy adjustments by Queen Elizabeth I and her successor King James I,numerous converts were accused of“fake Christians”by which Kingdom of England expects to overflanks Ottoman Empire in contests.Research on Othello s fate transitions as a convert could enrich and expand the research of Anglo-Ottoman Relationship.
