摘　　要：英语中动句是形式上表主动语义上表被动的一种特殊句式,具有隐性施事、非事件性、情态性、类指性等多种语义特征。文章基于行为链与图形一背景理论二元有机融合,对受事主语中动句、工具主语中动句和体验者主语中动句进行了分析,旨在从认知角度揭示英语中动句的认知机制。English middle construction is a peculiar sentence pattern which is active in form but passive in semantics.It has multiple semantic properties such as agenetivity,non-eventiveness,modality and genericity.Under the guidance of action chain and figure-ground theory,the thesis analyzes patient-subject middle construction,instrument-subject middle construction and experiencer-subject middle construction,aiming to find out the cognitive motivation of English middle construction from the cognitive perspective.
