Three Examinations on Pan Yue’s Family Background

摘　　要：潘岳父讳,《晋书》作“潘芘”,《水经注》作“潘茈”。据古人取名之习,《晋书》所载当是。潘岳母族,《晋书》未载,据潘岳所作《悲邢生辞》和后人所作《邢峦墓志》《邢伟墓志》可考为曹魏河间邢氏。潘岳与王堪的关系,学界多以为姨表亲,其实当为姑表亲,且王为兄、潘为弟。潘岳与阮赡的关系,学界多以为潘岳为阮赡妻兄,其实亦为姑表亲,且潘为兄、阮为弟。Pan Yue’s father was called“Pan Pi”in Jin Shu,but“Pan Zi”in Shui Jing Zhu.According to ancient naming habits,“Pan Pi”in Jin Shu shall be accepted.There is no record about Pan Yue’s mother’s family in Jin Shu.According to Pan Yue’s Bei Xing Sheng Ci and later generations’Xing Luan Tomb Inscriptions and Xing Wei Tomb Inscriptions,it can be considered to be the Xing family in Hejian area,Cao Wei period.The relationship between Pan Yue and Wang Kan is often regarded by the academic community as a cousin from his mother’s sister.But in fact,it should be considered as a cousin from his father’s sister,with Wang being the elder brother and Pan being the younger brother.The relationship between Pan Yue and Ruan Xiu is often believed by the academic community to be Ruan Xiu’s wife’s brother,but in fact,he is also a cousin of his family,and Pan is the brother and Ruan is the younger brother.
