摘　　要：西方小说常常讲述普通人的日常生活,将人们重复性的生活日常、习惯性举动、衣食住行纳入到故事当中。它们虽然像现实世界的日常生活那样看起来简单、平淡,却总能引起人们对生活的思考和感悟,这与西方小说讲述“新的”故事有着密切联系。西方小说的“新”时常凝聚在讲述故事的小说修辞里,为日常生活的现实表现注入引人思索的活力。表现与修辞互为彼此,成为西方小说中日常生活饶有意味的看点。The daily life of ordinary people is one of the popular subjects in western novels.Familiar daily events and habitual be-haviors concerning food,clothing,shelter,and transportation represented in stories are seemingly as ordinary and prosaic as their counterparts in the real world.Yet,they are more likely to awaken people’s awareness of life.With the art of rhetoric,western novels can tell“new”stories of life,infusing thought-provoking vitality into the representation of daily life.The representation of daily life interacts with the rhetoric skills in novels,which enables the daily life flow in stories with connotation and significance.
