摘　　要：9·11事件发生后,美国主流媒体出现男性霸权回潮现象,但作家德里罗在小说《坠落的人》中却通过基思这一角色,揭示美国男性霸权时代已一去不返。基思表面上具备男性霸权的特质,但在9·11事件后,他的回归家庭、发展婚外情、沉迷扑克游戏等均成为其男性气概求而不得的佐证。作为美国霸权主义的根基,男性霸权随着双子塔的倒塌而崩溃,而美国的霸权神话随之被阉割。Following the 9/11 attacks,there was a resurgence of male hegemony in mainstream American media.However,in the novel The Falling Man,author Don DeLillo,through the character Keith,reveals that the era of male hegemony in the United States is irreversibly gone.Although Keith seemingly possesses traits of male dominance,his return to family,engagement in extramarital affairs,and immersion in poker games all serve as evidence of the unattainability of his male prowess post-9/11.As the foundation of American imperialism,male hegemony collapses with the fall of the Twin Towers,leading to the emasculation of the American hegemonic myth.
