摘　　要：甘蔗是起源于旧大陆的一种古老作物,主要被用来榨糖。哥伦布发现新大陆后,将其带到美洲。美洲的环境适宜甘蔗生长,再加上世界各国都需要且喜欢糖,甘蔗迅速传播到新大陆各地,种植园与糖场遍布中美、南美洲,蔗糖业兴起并兴盛。蔗糖业虽然在短暂时间内带来巨额财富,却造成了严重的消极后果,致使拉美地区的农业、经济得不到正常发展,环境也遭到破坏,这种影响甚至持续至今。Sugarcane originated from the old continent and was mainly used for making sugar since ancient time.After Columbus discovered America,sugarcane was brought to the new world.Sugarcane quickly spread to Central and South America because of its strong adaptability,and many sugar industries emerged and flourished in the new continent.Although plantations of sugarcane brought huge profits in short time,they also made bad effects in America for a long time,such as singularity of the farm crops,economic backwardness,environment disruption,and so on.
