《原富》“非正法”翻译案语探析

摘　　要：添加案语是严复译作《原富》的主要特色,充分发挥出解释说明、赞同或反驳原作观点、针砭时弊等功用。严复借此传达西方先进思想,填补守旧士人阶层知识空白,力图开出一剂既符合彼时中国国情又能让国家富强、民族进步的良方。严复这种“非正法”译法与其提倡的“信达雅”有所偏颇,但却为翻译目的而服务,特别是添加案语的手法值得当下经济学领域的译者借鉴。Adding notes is the main feature of Yan Fu’s translation of The Wealth of Nations,which gives full play to the functions of explanation,agreement or disagreement and criticism of the times.Yan Fu used this strategy to spread advanced western ideas to fill the knowledge gap of the old-fashioned scholarly class and provide a solution that suited China’s situation at that time and could contribute to the country’s prosperity and progress.While this nontraditional translation strategy might not perfectly match his principle of“faithfulness,expressiveness,and elegance”,it serves the purpose of translation well.This strategy could be valuable for today’s translators in the field of economics.
