摘 要:《红楼梦》以其丰富深厚的思想背景和卓越的艺术成就,成为对外传播中华传统文化的重要载体,因此对《红楼梦》译本的研究尤为重要。从事诗词教研的叶嘉莹说:“作为小说中的诗词,《红楼梦》中的诗词是了不起的”[1]。文章以许渊冲的“三美论”为理论指导,对比分析杨宪益、大卫·霍克斯的《红楼梦》英译本中的诗词翻译案例,探讨译者文化意象翻译过程中可以采用的方法和策略,认为根据所要达到的不同目的,采用省译和增译翻译方法,可较高程度上还原诗词之音美;采用直译或意译的翻译策略,可以基本实现诗词之意美;采用直译或者重构法,译文大致可以做到诗词之形美。文章旨在探索在诗歌翻译中更好地传达中华传统文化的翻译策略。With its rich and profound ideological background and excellent artistic achievements,The Dream of the Red Chamber(or The Story of the Stone)has become an important carrier for the dissemination of Chinese traditional culture.Therefore,the research on the translation of The Dream of the Red Chamber is particularly important.Ye Jiaying,who is engaged in poetry teaching and research,said:"As poety infition,the poetry in The Dream of the Red Chamber is remarkable[1].Guided by Xu Yuanchong"s principle of"Three Beauties",this paper compares the poems in the version of The Dream of the Red Chamber translated by Yang Hsien-yi and David Hawkes,discusses the means and strategies adopted by the translator in the process of translation to realize the successful transformation and reproduction of aesthetic elements from the original text to the target text,and examines their personal experience and aesthetic enjoyment,aiming to explore the translation strategies that can better convey Chinese culture in poetry translation.
