This review comprehensively summarizes the research progress on the morphological changes, physiological and biochemical variations and molecular regulations of rose underlying responses to various abiotic stresses including temperature, light, water, salinity, and heavy metal stresses, and expounded the influence of abiotic stress on the growth and development of rose. This paper serves as a valuable reference for elucidating the regulatory mechanisms underlying rose responses to abiotic stress and provides a theoretical foundation for cultivating and applying highly resistant rose varieties. In addition, the molecular regulatory network of rose response to abiotic stress was comprehensively analyzed using omics methods and advanced biotechnology, enabling the identification of key genes involved in abiotic stress response. These findings were then utilized to develop dominant rose varieties with enhanced resistance through transgenic technology.
