晚清台湾地区铁路修建中的外国工程师考

摘　　要：刘铭传抚台期间,积极推进台湾地区的近代化进程,兴办铁路是其重要举措。其时,铁路是新生事物,国人普遍对此缺乏了解,相关的工程技术人才更是稀缺。为修建台湾地区铁路,刘铭传先后聘请了15位外国工程师。对参与晚清台湾地区铁路修建的外国工程师的聘用途径、人员组成、薪资待遇以及工作情形的考证,既可以丰富台湾地区铁路史的研究,也对进一步探究晚清时期铁路技术的引进具有重要价值和意义。Liu Mingchuan,the governor of Taiwan in the late Qing dynasty,actively promoted the modernization of Taiwan region.Among his important measures was the construction of railways.As a new technology,railways were generally unfamiliar to the Chinese then,and the relevant engineering and technical personnel were even more scarce.To build the railways in Taiwan region,Liu hired 15 foreign engineers.This paper examines the recruitment channels,personnel composition,salary and benefits,and working conditions of foreign engineers in the construction of railways in Taiwan region in the late Qing dynasty.It enriches the research on the history of Taiwan region railways and has substantial value and significance for further exploring the introduction of railway technology in the late Qing dynasty.
