摘　　要：商务印书馆经理张元济和编译所所长高梦旦非常看重新文化运动中成名的胡适,邀请他为商务编辑“世界丛书”,并得到同意。借此媒介,商务同胡适开始建立切实的合作关系,进而希望胡适出任商务的编译所所长一职。于是胡适专程赴上海考察商务印书馆编译所,并提出若干改进意见,同时推荐王云五代替自己出任所长一职,得到商务认可。胡适与商务印书馆的密切关系由此奠定,这一合作及其后续影响对双方意义重大,其过程值得钩沉。Hu Shi was highly valued by The Commercial Press (CP) leaders, such as Zhang Yuanji, and was invited to edit the CP World Series. Through this opportunity, CP established a practical cooperative relationship with Hu and even wished Hu to be CP’s director of the Compilation Institute. Although Hu did not accept this invitation, he came to Shanghai to inspect CP and put forward some suggestions for improvement. Meanwhile, Hu nominated Wang Yunwu as the director instead of himself, which CP recognized. The close relationship between Hu Shi and CP was thus established, and this cooperation and its subsequent impact are of great significance to both sides, which is worth exploring.
