摘 要:对于模分复用系统,结合高模式增益和宽带宽增益特性的少模掺铒光纤(FM-EDF)放大器具有较高的应用价值。利用改进的化学气相沉积法(MCVD)结合溶液法制备了一种新型FM-EDF。该FM-EDF在976 nm和1 530 nm处的吸收系数分别为10.6 dB/m和35.0 dB/m;由COMSOL软件中有限元差分模块理论计算可得,其可支持10个空间模式(LP_(01)、LP_(11a/b)、LP_(21a/b)、LP_(02)、LP_(31a/b)以及LP_(12a/b)模式)的光传输。基于该FM-EDF搭建了全光纤放大系统并对其光模式放大特性进行了实验研究,研究结果表明,该光放大系统在40 nm带宽(1 525~1 565 nm)范围内获得10个模式的增益均大于17.0 dB,且差分模式增益均小于0.5 dB。因此,FM-EDF放大技术在模分复用系统中的广泛应用可进一步扩展光纤通信容量,具有重要的实际应用意义。For mode division multiplexing systems,a few-mode erbium-doped fiber(FM-EDF) amplifier that combines high mode gain and broadband wide gain characteristics has high application value.Using a modified chemical vapor deposition(MCVD) technology combined with a solution method,a FM-EDF is fabricated.The absorption coefficients of the FM-EDF at 976 nm and 1 530 nm are 10.6 dB/m and 35.0 dB/m,respectively.According to theoretical calculation of finite element difference module in COMSOL software,the FM-EDF can support the transmission of 10 spatial modes(LP_(01),LP_(11a/b),LP_(21a/b),LP_(02),LP_(31a/b),and LP_(12a/b) modes).Furthermore,an all-fiber amplification system based on this FM-EDF is constructed and its optical mode amplification characteristics are experimentally studied.The results show that within the bandwidth range of 40 nm(1 525~1 565 nm),the gain of all 10 modes could be greater than 17.0 dB,and differential modal gains are less than 0.5 dB.Therefore,the widespread application of FM-EDF amplification technology in mode division multiplexing systems can further expand the capacity of optical fiber communication,and has important practical application significance.
