Severe siltation in drainage pipelines can threaten the normal operation of urban drainage systems, leading to sewage backflow and environmental pollution. This paper analyzes the characteristics of sediment, explores the causes of sediment and its impact on the urban environment, and proposes innovative dredging schemes by introducing traditional dredging techniques.Sediment in drainage pipelines include sediment and various kinds of household waste, and the reasons for its occurrence include particulate matter deposition during rainfall, pipeline design defects, waste discharge, etc.Sediment can affect the ecological environment, cause floods, generate pollution and increase maintenance costs.Traditional dredging techniques such as mechanical dredging and high-pressure flushing are not suitable for pipelines with difficult problems.Innovative solutions for sediment removal, such as intelligent monitoring systems, drone inspections and local wall cleaning, not only have improved dredging efficiency, but also reduced maintenance costs. At the same time,a deep understanding of the characteristics of sediment and the adoption of innovative dredging methods can solve drainage problems, ensure smooth urban drainage, reduce flood risks and improve people's quality of life,so as to provide guarantees for sustainable urban development.
