摘　　要：Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is known as the most prevalent cause of chronic liver disease globally,ranging from simple steatosis to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH),which can lead to advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis.The burden of NAFLD is projected to increase over the next decade because of the lack of effective approved medications and continued increases in obesity and diabetes.Individuals with NAFLD are left with the challenge of‘lifestyle modification’,which is difficult to implement or maintain in a predictably effective fashion.
