Generative artificial intelligence(AI)technologies, such as large multi-modal models(LMMs),hold promise for enhancing healthcare,However, they also present numerous risks and challenges that necessitate thorough consideration by model developers, regulators, and users.Addressing these risks demands transparent information and policies to govern the design, development, and deployment of LMMs.The World Health Organization(WHO)recently issued new guidelines on the ethical governance of LMMs,offering over 40 recommendations for governments, technology firms, and healthcare institutions. These guidelines aim to ensure the responsible use of LMMs,safeguard public health, and open up new avenues for enhancing elderly care. While advancing geriatric medicine, the guidelines also highlight ethical dilemmas.By adhering to the ethical standards set forth by the WHO and China,we can harness AI technology more effectively to address the healthcare needs of the aging population, enhance medical services for the elderly, and work towards achieving a healthier society in China.
