摘　　要：作为英国新左派文化主义者,作者分析了二十世纪五十年代末,英国以BBC和ITV为代表的电视媒体的虚伪的“大众可接受性”。BBC和ITV在处理电视辩论及讨论节目时,尽管这些节目在表现形式和内容上千差万别,但都存在着严重的问题,而这些问题是由这类节目负责人的某些共同态度造成的,即电视媒体倾向于资本主义国家已经做出的政策决定,只有在万不得已的情况下,才将思考权交于观众。这导致普通大众满足于在肤浅的娱乐层面与个别节目进行斗争。电视媒体低估了大众生活态度的丰富性和多样性,折射出英国资本主义大众文化实为“公平公正性”的丧失及“阶级性”的抹平。As British New Left culturalists,the authors analyze the hypocritical“mass acceptability”of the British TV media represented by BBC and ITV in the late 1950s.When BBC and ITV are dealing with TV debates and discussion programs,although these programs vary greatly in form and content,they all have serious problems,which are caused by some common attitudes of the directors of such programs,that is,the television media lean towards policy decisions already made by capitalist countries.Only in the case of last resort,the right to think will be handed over to the audience.This leads the general public to settle for a superficial level of entertainment in the fight against certain programs.TV media underestimate the richness and diversity of the public’s attitude towards life,reflecting the fact that the British capitalist mass culture is the loss of being“fair and unbiased”and the erasure of“class”nature.
