In January 1991,a group of the Warring States Period bronzes was discovered in a storage pit in Hongwa Village,Zhihe Town,Pengzhou City,Sichuan Province, which the Pengzhou City Museum subsequently collected.Bronzes are relatively well-preserved,although with certain degrees of rusty. The 40 bronzes are mainly weapons, including dagger-axes,yue-battle axes,jin-tools,spears,pointedbottom boxes, etc. Most of the types were found in the Warring States burials in the Ba-Shu region, are the typical artifact assemblage of the Ba-Shu culture. Also, the majority of their decorative patterns, such as tiger,cicada,hand-shaped,and heart-shaped,were prevalent in Ba-Shu;some of them were also decorated with the so-called“Ba-Shu symbols”commonly seen on bronzes of the late Warring States Period in Ba-Shu.Compared with other surrounding Ba-Shu burials, these bronzes can be dated back to the middle and late Warring States Period. The discovery provides significant data on the Ba-Shu Culture Studies.
